Patriarchy vs Femme Fatale

Dev Patel looks really hot in The Wedding Guest movie. Do you agree? We would never expect a mysterious guy to kidnap us on our wedding day, but it is intriguing to watch such a thing in a movie. We should never hurt our on-and-off boyfriend after married the other guy, but it's quite intriguing to see it in a movie scene, isn't it? I think Dev Patel tried to show his broad range of acting. AND I LIKED IT, the mysterious and melancholy face. If you haven't watched this movie and always feel a little bit giddy about the term 'Patriarchy', I think you should watch this and imagine what it is like to be a free-thinker woman amidst a strong patriarchy. Although this movie may not be suitable for the youngsters, I really like this movie though. One honk can be fatal.  LINKS: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=BO0BDQEslwQ https://tv.apple.com/id/movie/the-wedding-guest/umc.cmc.4jmedo20rpizmvbxd4rkvnmkh?l=id Photo Source: Pixabay (Photographer: Pexels)

These Ancient Influencers

I have read Pamela McQuade's book The Top 100 Women Of The Bible. Although I know all of them from The Bible, I am happy to own this book and read it in a coffee shop. So, 10 zips for each short story, smile content and tell myself, I have just learned something from one of these ancient influencers. Take one, for example, Salome, the daughter of Herodias. Her dance caused one of the most important prophets to be beheaded. I bet she probably danced like Noa Kirel, who won best performer. Photo Source: Pixabay (Photographer: Stokpic)

Lala Land

Today, I realized I did not write anything yesterday. Feel a little bit unhappy forgetting small things such as diaries, songs, happy birthday notes or prayers for the sick. But, since I know that the Internet is a Global Village, so I still write a verse though. At least I can write to my friends in the USA who are staying in the part of the earth whose time is 16 hours later than my country. They exist in my yesterday and today. I also learned something today. I should just write the words and everything will flow. Yesterday, I was too busy thinking about the topic. Now, I am thinking about a suitable verse by Bernard Lim for my 'yesterday' version, "Get off 'Lala-land', and get to work out of the crisis!" Post Modern Apartment Building Management

Suburbs nowadays, have multi-function or mixed-use buildings. An apartment building can be used for an apartment, but also as a dorm and hotel all together. One day, like any other Monday in their very own apartment, a young mother with her son spends the morning as usual. Her child watches YouTube and the mother does her chores and prepares food. Her son accidentally turned up the volume and the whole floor could hear his cartoon playing. So one resident shouted "This is a hotel you know!", and the mother shouted back, "What! What hotel? Fullerton?" While the other young inhabitants just laugh. Photo Source: Pixabay (Photographer: Chris Kinkel)

What on earth am I here for?

I remember in 2013, every time I visited a bookstore in any shopping mall, I always spotted this philosophical question on a best-selling book cover; 'What on earth am I here for?' So I secretly replied each time I saw it, "Ooh, I am here for my Boba and KFC upstairs!" While the other day I answered, "Ooh I am here for my me-time with a new book in Starbucks downstairs!" And the other day, when strolling in a well-known Christian bookstore in the city and saw it, I replied, "Ooh I am here for Chicken Soto in the café upstairs, and I am going to read new scribes." The other days, each time I spotted that question, I kept answering 'intrapersonally' because it was quite fun. The thing is, I've already bought Rick Warren's 'The Purpose Driven' book 3 times since 2006, so I know the answer. When our agenda is full of busy-ness, goals to achieve, both short term and long term goals, we seldom think about our existence and its pur...

If you can't say it, sing it!

Every time I watch Eminem on his YouTube channel, I always think this man is a maestro at channeling his emotions, including the negative ones, into rap music. If you ask Grok today, Eminem is one of the best-selling artists from all genres and eras.   It turns out the 51-year-old singer is also quite a good actor, starring in 8 mile movie in the role of Jimmy Smith Jr. A.K.A 'B-Rabbit', the movie depicts Eminem's life and the culture of hiphop. The end of the '8 Mile' movie trailer on Netflix shows a quote 'find your voice'. If you watch the entire trailer, you can see fighting and striving with lots of heartaches most likely will be spilled creatively on raplines. Can you imagine such emotions: an angry voice, relatable lyrics, all together with the flow of music influence people worldwide?! Have you ever heard of 'Cymatics?'  Cymatics is the study of visible sound and vibration, a subset of modal phenomena.  In 1967, Hans Jenny claimed the existen...

Give Thanks

My body, my soul and The Spirit in me All together rise to praise The Creator We have prepared a new song: Give thanks to the Lord for he is good! For His mercy endures forever.

Knock, Knock!

Alexander Graham Bell wrote, "when one door closes, another door opens, but we so often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door, that we do not see the ones which open for us."  While Jesus said "Knock and the door will be opened to you." Both say that we need to be proactive. When was the last time I considered myself being proactive? Photo Source: Pixabay (Photographer: StockSnap)

Bonnie Loves The Sea

" My Bonnie lies over the ocean, my bonnie ..." I can recall my grandma taught me this Scottish traditional folk song and all together with this powerful song,  "We shall overcome, we shall overcome, we shall overcome someday, O deep in my heart I do believe we shall overcome someday." These songs were my lullabies when I was 4 years old.  I remember in 2020, most sailors were sent home from overseas during the pandemic period, while my hubby experienced the lockdown phase in the country where he works as a sailor. So I started to sing Joan Baez's song to calm my nerves of worrying about the virus and the future. One day in 2020, my hubby called to inform me about the situation. Soon I knew that he appeared to be one of the lucky sailors who can stay working and keep their job. As we hoped for the same thing, hoped for a miracle, our wish was granted by God and we overcame the situation. I felt reluctant to sing the first song during the pandemic, simply because...

'Oat' and 'Out'

"Son, if the oats finish, we may need to go out!" Said a young mother to her little boy. How do you perceive this line, a sad line? Supposing it is a sad line, yes, they need to go out! Even if it is a happy line, they still need to go out. "Mom, let's go out and pick strawberries instead! The boy responded cheerfully. I learned something from children way of thinking, that we can count on their big picture thinking in hard times or dilemma. Photo source: Unsplash (Photographer: No-Revisions)

Celebrate Like 'Psy'

Who doesn't know 'Psy' Gangnam Style?! This funny Korean Singer, made a comeback with this terrific song ' That That' featuring SUGA of BTS, who makes the video clip so tenacious and more like a big celebration in the wild-wild west. I really love Psy broken English, when he sang "22, Psy coming back..." with a relieved face, he continued, "Pandemic over uh, yeah, feeling amazing uh..."  I totally agree with Psy and heaven knows how I have wanted to say the same thing since last year: "Pandemic over, I'm back! Yay, just say it!" Adding to 'That That' tenacious lines, nothing beats this rap line by SUGA  "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger..." Woaa, this song really marks the comeback of our global goals as well as our personal goals. Let's celebrate life in style. The Oil That Never Runs Dry

A few weeks ago, I watched an expert giving a brief explanation about what a yield curve is and how to predict economic growth. From that indicator, he projected that we may be facing an economic crisis in 2024. Since the expert said that the yield curve tends to be accurate as a predictor of economic growth, I have this urge to re-read my old collection by Bernard and Isaac Lim about discovering our most valuable resource in times of crisis, titled; The Oil That Never Runs Dry. Bernard Lim, who is also a financial coach, wrote, "When everything is literally stripped away, you will begin your journey to discover something of great value that is in you - your Jar of Oil." Hmm, true enough!   Photo source: Unsplash (By:Roberta Sorge)

Eat Candy !!!

Never a day without this cheerful line "Mama let's go eat candy!". Everytime James gets bored, he will say this over and over again.  Such a cute voice all together with a simple line is simple but able to move a young mother to speed up her chores, close her laptop, comb her hair, cry lil' bit or even pray. This mom-to-mom advice: 'Be Creative!' Photo source: Unsplash (Photographer:Joanna Kosinska)
